Seipasa, a company specialized in the development and manufacture of biopesticides, bio-stimulants and fertilizers for agriculture, participated in the XV edition of the OBC-WPRS Congress on Biological and Integrated Control of Plant Pathogens<\/a><\/strong>. The event, organised by the Institute of Agriculture and Food Research and Technology (IRTA<\/a>) and the University of Lleida<\/a>, and promoted by the International Organisation for Biological and Integrated Control (IOBC-WPRS<\/a>), was held from 23 to 26 April in Lleida.<\/p>\n

Javier N\u00e1cher, the technical director of Seipasa, joined the scientific program. N\u00e1cher presented a paper reviewing the latest developments in the research and application of microorganisms for the control of plant pathogens<\/strong>. The technical director of Seipasa highlighted the experience developed by the company in this field over the last 9 years, from the process of isolation, identification, selection and characterization of the strain<\/strong>. “In Seipasa, aware of the great agronomic and ecological potential of this product category, a new formulation based on a plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) with a high capacity as a biocontrol agent, has been developed in the last 9 years”, said N\u00e1cher. In this regard, he referred to the battery of tests showing the broad spectrum activity of the Bacillus <\/em>strain in the control of pathogens such as rots, powdery mildew, downy mildew and other bacteria.<\/p>\n

The biological fungicide Fungisei<\/h2>\n

In his presentation, the main head of Seipasa’s technical department referred to Fungisei<\/a>, a biological fungicide developed by the company for the control of fungi, bacteria and soil diseases<\/strong>. N\u00e1cher defined Fungisei as a broad spectrum biofungicide whose patented technology allows a liquid formulation based on microorganisms, with high stability and proven efficacy in extreme temperature conditions. In this regard, he referred to its green formulation, which does not include the use of biocidal compounds.\u00a0Fungisei was awarded as Best Formulation Innovation<\/a> at the Agrow Awards 2017.<\/p>\n

The IOBC-WPRS Congress became a forum where the latest advances and research on the main aspects needed to bring biological products from the laboratory to the field were presented.
