Seipasa, the Spanish company specialised in the development and formulation of biopesticides, biostimulants and fertilizers for agriculture has taken part in the International Phytoma Encounter<\/a> on plant health in tomato growing.<\/p>\n

Around 500 experts came together at the \u00c1guilas Auditorium and Conference Centre in Murcia (Spain) to analyse the main risks and threats to this crop in relation to three issues: the emergence of new pests and diseases, global warming and the impact of the EU\u2019s increasingly stringent regulatory framework.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

With these objectives in mind, the Encounter\u2019s scientific programme<\/a> presented almost 40 sessions, including technical papers and round table debates. In addition to Seipasa\u2019s sponsorship of the event, Juan Manuel L\u00f3pez, the company\u2019s Head of Marketing, presented a paper entitled \u201cNew strategies, new solutions: a reality for the management of Tuta absoluta<\/em>\u201d.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

In his address to the audience, Mr L\u00f3pez explained that \u201cthe current situation and trend in regulations towards limiting and\/or prohibiting certain active substances due to their proven harmful effect on people and on the environment, together with the gradual emergence of new registered substances that replace previous ones, is causing a situation of imbalance in terms of the pests and diseases that affect different crops\u201d.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Seipasa\u2019s Head of Marketing affirmed that the traditional model used to date, based mainly on active substances and chemically synthesized molecules, involving lengthy developments and research, proved to be highly effective in the first few years, focusing specifically on one single solution, however, as he went on to explain, \u201cover the course of time adaptations and resistances start to appear, which means that these solutions eventually lose their value as effective tools\u201d.<\/p>\n
