Seipasa, a Spanish company specializing in the development, formulation, and manufacturing of bioinsecticide, biofungicide, biostimulant, and nutritional treatments for agriculture, has been\u00a0awarded a grant from the European Union and\u00a0Ivace+i Innovaci\u00f3n<\/a>. This funding will support the company\u2019s participation in the MiCropBiome research project.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Titled “Next generation of microbiological treatments to combat climate change and drought in horticultural and woody crops,”\u00a0the project aims to develop innovative biostimulant solutions based on beneficial microorganisms. These solutions are designed to enhance the productivity and resilience of crops facing drought and water stress\u2014challenges increasingly exacerbated by the global climate crisis.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The project encompasses the identification of microorganisms with agronomic potential, the development of advanced evaluation and screening platforms, the formulation of biostimulant prototypes, and their validation under real-world growing conditions. The ultimate objective is to provide sustainable, efficient, and safe solutions that contribute to a more resilient agricultural model aligned with circular economy principles.<\/p>\n

Strategic R&D&I Collaboration<\/h2>\n

Seipasa\u2019s involvement in MiCropBiome is part of a technical cooperation consortium featuring leading scientific and business partners<\/strong>: Darwin Bioprospecting Excellence S.L., the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) through the Institute for Plant Molecular and Cell Biology (IBMCP-CSIC), and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (IBMCP-UPV).<\/p>\n

The total funding allocated to the project amounts to \u20ac872,555.58.<\/p>\n

Project Objectives<\/h2>\n

The grant supports a structured work plan focused on five fundamental pillars:<\/p>\n

  • \u00a0 Microbial Collection: Generating a library of microorganisms capable of promoting plant growth under water-scarce conditions.<\/li>\n
  • \u00a0 Innovative Screening: Implementing advanced systems using cell cultures and “sentinel roots” to evaluate the potential of various candidates.<\/li>\n
  • Formulation: Developing prototypes compatible with current agricultural application methods.<\/li>\n
  • Functional Analysis: Studying biological mechanisms to identify the active ingredients within the most effective preparations.<\/li>\n
  • Field Validation: Conducting trials under controlled conditions to guarantee the safety and efficacy of the final solutions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    With this financial backing, Seipasa strengthens its research efforts in applied microbiology, contributing to the development of tools that promote a more resilient agriculture in line with European sustainability and circular economy targets.<\/p>\n
