Seipasa, the Spanish company specialised in the development and formulation of biopesticides, biostimulants and fertilizers for agriculture, has had its phytosanitary registration of Fungisei extended to include avocados in the Peruvian market.
The certification awarded by the SENASA (Peruvian National Agricultural Safety Service) applies to the control of die-back (Lasiodiplodia theobromae) and is additional to the registration that the product already has in the country for the control of powdery mildew and botrytis on peppers, grapevines and blueberries.
Fungisei is a new-generation biological fungicide developed by the company from its own strain of Bacillus subtilis. Apart from Peru, the product has also obtained phytosanitary registration in the USA, Mexico, Morocco, Turkey and the Ivory Coast. Fungisei is also going through the registration process in some of the key markets of Africa, Latin America and Europe where it has also been classed as Low Risk, according to Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009.
For José Luis Egas, Sales Director of Seipasa-LATAM, the registration extension of Fungisei to include avocados is the result of years of work and investments by the company. “Seipasa is a global project that envisages phytosanitary registrations worldwide. We are committed to obtaining registrations as a guarantee of quality, endorsing our product’s adaptation to the needs of each country and type of farming system”.
He goes on to state that: “Fungisei is a biofungicide of wide international scope, with a highly technical formulation, of proven efficacy, registered for farming systems in different countries and continents”. Fungisei is distributed in Peru through the sales network of Montana.
