Seipasa, a company specialized in the formulation, development and marketing of botanical-based solutions (biopesticides, biostimulants and fertilizers) for agriculture, joined IMIDA’s technical meeting, a session focused on the exchange of recent research results. IMIDA is the Institute for Research in Agricultural Development and Food in Murcia, Spain.
PhD Consuelo Penella, member of Seipasa’s technical department, delivered a presentation called 'Active botanical substances: pyrethrin and other products for an advanced agriculture'. At her speech, Penella referred to the wide variety of botanical extracts that exist due to its natural origin.
She mentioned the taxonomy, water content and the harvest season, among others, as pivotal elements in the quality and quantity of those compounds being present in botanical extracts. Penella reviewed the quality standards applied by Seipasa when it comes to controlling raw materials of natural origin. In this regard, she highlighted the case of Pirecris, the new biopesticide Seipasa has put on the market in Spain. Also, she unfolded the selected criteria to ensure the ratio of the 6 molecules of the active ingredient become appropiate.
Penella claimed that 100% of Pirecris formulation was designed to perform as an active substance with insecticide effect. The active ingredient synergizes with the rest of the natural elements of the matrix, enhancing the effect and thus achieving high levels of efficacy.
