Seipasa, the Spanish company specialised in the development and formulation of bioinsecticides, biofungicides and biostimulants for agriculture, has completed the first phase of installing solar panels at its production plant in L’Alcúdia, in Valencia.
Now that these new solar panels are operative, Seipasa is 40% self-sufficient in solar energy, while the rest of the electricity used comes from renewable energy sources.
Seipasa's Quality and Environment Manager, María del Puig Mora, highlighted that with this new installation, Seipasa meets its objective of zero CO2 emissions from electricity consumption.
This new project is part of the company's ongoing sustainability strategy. It is one more step towards the goal of reducing our dependency on conventionally produced electricity in our manufacturing processes. This is an initial stage in the installation which adapts to our current needs, but we certainly plan to extend it in the future", Ms Mora stated.
To be the solution and not the problem
Seipasa's Quality and Environment Manager reiterated the company's commitment to actions that are geared towards reducing polluting emissions and greenhouse gases: "To combat global warming, companies should be part of the solution, not the problem. The future is bleak if we don't take care of nature and our environment, and for this reason every action counts however small it may be".
The installation of this first phase of solar panels at Seipasa's production plant meets the UN Sustainable Development Goals 7 and 13 regarding clean energy and actions to combat climate change. Moreover, this project is in line with the EU target of at least 40% less greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, compared to 1990.
This photovoltaic solar energy installation project at Seipasa (IEAUTF/2021/48) has been co-financed by the European Union together with the Instituto Valenciano de Competitividad Empresarial (IVACE) under the program ‘Instalaciones de Autoconsumo Empresas y Entidades 2021’ (Self-consumption Installations Companies and Entities 2021) with the aim of promoting technological development, innovation and quality research.
Participation of the IVACE
This is a project supported by the IVACE (Instituto Valenciano de Competitividad Empresarial) co-financed by the European Union within the FEDER Operational Program of the Valencian Community 2021-2027. ('Photovoltaic solar energy installation project in Seipasa' (IEAUTF/2021/48) within the program 'Self-consumption installations for companies and entities 2021').
The project has consisted in the implementation of a new electrical installation of photovoltaic solar energy of 48kW of nominal power with discharge of surplus to the network without accumulation, in the industrial building located in C/Ciudad Dario Nº 1,3,5. P.I. La Creu, C.P.: 46250 L'Alcudia, (Valencia). A substantial improvement has been achieved in the supply of electricity from 100% renewable energy to its facilities, which represents a further gesture of the company's commitment to sustainability and the environment. The amount received was 9,116.17 €.
