Seipasa, the Spanish company specialised in the development and formulation of bioinsecticides, biofungicides and biostimulants, now forms part of the new Executive Board of IBMA España, the association that defends the interests of companies producing, marketing and selling bioprotection products and tools.
Seipasa contributes with its specialisation and pioneering expertise in the development of treatments for agriculture based on substances of botanical and microbiological origin, along with its international experience in more than 25 countries.
The new Executive Board of IBMA España, elected at the General Assembly held on 25th February, has set the immediate priority of fostering bioprotection solutions to drive forward the growth of sustainable, organic agriculture in Spain.
In addition, the association has proposed to establish an open forum between the companies it represents and the administrative bodies so as to work together on regulations, quality standards and professional ethics, as well as on projects for training and information that aim to drive forward the promising, innovative industry represented by IBMA España.
With these goals in mind IBMA España fulfils its purpose as the voice of the biological control or bioprotection industry in Spain, reinforcing its role as a qualified interlocutor before the relevant administrative bodies and as a benchmark sectoral association in matters relating to sustainable and organic agriculture.
The new Executive Board comprises the Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and a representative of each group of products:
• Chair: Adriana Guerra (UPL Iberia)
• Vice-Chair: Alejandro Altube (Idebio).
• Treasurer: Juan Manuel López (Seipasa).
• Secretary: Jordi Portoles (Biobest).
• Microbials representative: Marisé Borja (GAB Consulting).
• Macrobials representative: Magda Galeano (Koppert).
• Natural substances representative: Teresa Yuste (Idai Nature).
• Semiochemicals representative: Diego Gómez (Sedq).
About IBMA
Officially registered as an independent national association in 2012, under the umbrella of IBMA-global, IBMA España groups together Spanish companies and companies based in Spain that are dedicated to the production and/or marketing and sales of bioprotection products and tools.
Bioprotection technologies (bioprotectors) include biological plant protection tools for pest and disease management. All these tools have their origin in nature or, in the case of synthetic products, replicate mechanisms identical to those found in nature.
The type of products in this industry is highly diverse although it essentially comprises 4 major product groups: those based on microorganisms, macroorganisms (such as beneficial auxiliary insects, mites or entomopathogenic nematodes), semiochemicals, such as pheromones, and natural substances, including, among others, botanical extracts and natural oils.
