Seipasa, a company specialized in the formulation, development and marketing of botanical and microbiological-based solutions (biopesticides, biostimulants and fertilizers) for agriculture, participated in the International Meeting organized by Phytoma on plant health, European legal framework and climate change. The event, which served to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Phytoma, was held in Valencia on June 13-14, 2018.
Seipasa, which was among the main sponsors of the event, joined the scientific program with a technical presentation aimed at analyzing the current and future situation of the agrifood sector from the regulatory perspective.
Juan Manuel López, CMO of Seipasa, claimed that the consequences of climate change on the environment and people's health forced a complete rethinking of the agricultural production model. In this context, he stressed that the progressive reduction of active ingredients imposed by the European legislation is leading to the disappearance of some of the tools available to farmers for pest and disease control.
"Seipasa's experience in this context has been to anticipate the restrictions that European legislation has been introducing", said López, who added that "Seipasa has worked to put registered biopesticide solutions on the market which, while equally effective, are in line with the new regulatory framework in their implications for the environment and society".
The International Phytoma Meeting has brought together nearly 400 people with a comprehensive programme of presentations distributed in two main blocks: the legal framework that will govern plant health in the future, and the challenges of plant health in the face of climate change.
