Seipasa, a company specialized in the formulation, development and marketing of botanical-based solutions (biopesticides, biostimulants and fertilizers) for agriculture, presented the new biopesticide Seican in the USA within the framework of the BioControls USA West Conference, the event where the latest trends concerning biological pest control are unveiled.
Seican is a new fungicide and insecticide for pest control and diseases. Developed from an exclusive and unique formulation based on botanical-based substances, Seican provides a powerful knock down effect against a large number of species of powdery mildew, botrytis, insects and mites.
José Ángel Talavera, CCO of Seipasa, remarked Seican’s multi-site mode of action as one of its main advantages. "Seican provides a curative action that prevents the spread of fungi. As fungicide, Seican breaks the sporulation and causes the fungus dehydration, causing the dissapearance of leaf symptons".
Talavera also referred to Seican application as an "effective alternative" to chemical acaricides thanks to the product’s ability to penetrate the body of insects and mites so as to cause a dehydration and, consequently, its death. "The product presents a very high efficacy in each and every target. In addition, due to its novel multi-site mode of action, Seican does not generate resistances, resulting in an ideal product to be included in integrated pest control strategies”, said the CCO of Seipasa.
The phytosanitary certificate for the United States market will be available in the coming months.
Apart from Seican, Fungisei also played a leading role in the BioControls USA West Conference. Seipasa's biological fungicide, recently awarded as Best Formulation Innovation at the 2017 Agrow Awards, has the phytosanitary certification to be marketed the United States and Peru. Soon, Fungisei will also arrive in Mexico and Morocco.
Biological Products Industry Alliance (BPIA)
Prior to the celebration of the BioControls USA West Conference, Seipasa participated in the BPIA 2018 Spring Meeting and International Symposium. BPIA emerges as the organization bringing together the main producers of biopesticides in the world. Seipasa is member of BPIA sine 2010. Juan Manuel López, CMO of Seipasa, gave a conference focusing on the regulatory impact upon the biocontrol market development.
López remarked the large experience Seipasa accumulates when it comes to the registration of phytosanitary products over the past 15 years. He insisted on the high cost, in terms of time and money, the launching of registered solutions to the market represents for a medium-size company like Seipasa.
López mentioned those barriers faced by companies that intend to register phytosanitary products and claimed that these are drawbacks slowing down the generation of new solutions for farmers. Finally, the CMO of Seipasa called for the harmonization of this type of processes when it comes to the requirements and international regulations that are needed.
