Seipasa, the Spanish company specialising in the development and formulation of biopesticides, biostimulants and fertilizers for agriculture, has been selected as a finalist in the international Crop Science Awards. These awards bring together leading enterprises devoted to crop protection and are convened as a way of acknowledging the most outstanding initiatives in the fields of Science, Technology and Business Leadership.
Seipasa is in the running for the top prize in 2 of the 14 categories in the awards: Best Marketing Campaign and Best R&D Pipeline. ‘Through the eyes of the New Generation’ (La Mirada de la Nueva Generación), shortlisted in the Best Marketing Campaign category, is one of the actions undertaken by Seipasa to announce the launch of its Fungisei bio-fungicide on new strategic markets following the obtainment of the relevant phytosanitary certificate.
For Seipasa’s Chief Marketing Officer, Juan Manuel López, the campaign combines two key concepts for the company. “Agriculture is going through a process of profound transformation spearheaded by a generation of young professionals with a new frame of mind and different way of doing things. Rationality, sustainability and environmental respect are the driving values behind such a change and are the same principles that have guided us along the way for over 20 years”, Lopez stressed.
The Best Marketing Campaign category aims to recognise creative excellence in the selling and advertising of products for crop protection. Seipasa will be competing for the top prize against multinationals such as Syngenta, Adama or FMC.
Best R&D Pipeline
Seipasa is also opting for a prize in the category of Best R&D Pipeline on the basis of a total herbicide developed with substances of botanical origin. This new project encompasses the synergetic combination of botanical active ingredients with varying modes of action, lower persistence and greater biodegradability.
According to Seipasa’s Chief Research Officer, Francisco Espinosa, the new product the company is working on aims to cover the current need within the agriculture and farming sector worldwide for new, much more sustainable alternatives that are respectful of both the environment and human health.
“Seipasa’s nomination as a finalist in this category represents a huge boost to all the research and development work on new projects taking place at the company”, Espinosa claimed.
The Best R&D Pipeline category is devised to recognise those companies in the crop protection industry that are actively engaged in research and development through new projects. Bayer, Corteva or Marrone are some of the other finalists.
Crop Science Awards
This is the third time in a row that Seipasa has been a finalist in the Crop Science Awards, which are now into their 12th edition and are the heirs to the former Agrow Awards. In 2017, Seipasa won the Best Formulation Innovation award, while in 2018, the company received two Highly Commended distinctions in the categories of Best Marketing Campaign and Best New Biological Product. The winners of the awards will be announced at a ceremony to be held in London on 12th November 2019.
